In 1924, Josep Mata Capellades began his career in cava´s world as a master in disgorgement and professional winemaker. Through hard work, he started building the cellar just below his house, in the historic district of Sant Sadurní d'Anoia (Barcelona). He took his father’s name as a reference —Recaredo Mata Figueres, who was born in 1878 in a family of pottery artisans —, to give name to a referenced family home that, over the years, paved the way for a very personal style. Josep and Antoni Mata Casanovas, Josep Mata Capellades sons, consolidate Recaredo's projection along the years as a synonym of accuracy, quality and, above all, passion for excellence, marking a genuine and unique style. To move forward, they took steps backwards, looking and listening to nature to find the answers. Without chemical fertilizers, without herbicides, without fungicides, only with natural elements. It was at this point when in Recaredo´s decided to work with biodynamic farming ... The moment to put the project in motion. Recaredo has been the first winegrower in the DO Cava and the DO Penedès to obtain the Demeter official certification of biodynamic agriculture.
